Keris (pendek) Bugis Sumatra, with a 'mini' sampir tebeng styled sheath. Probably of East Sumatra origin. |
TThis is an old piece which had been restored. The blade is of an average quality. (The joints had been repaired). |
The hilt is made of kenaung wood with a malacca cup pendokok, made of silver, with openworks design. |
The hulu is in kerdas form. The sampir is made from jati (teak) wood and the batang is made from sena wood. The slight protusion of the blade is common for this tebeng style sheath. |
Typical dapur sepokal, but a miniature piece. Probably used by a boy or a woman. Short blade with pamor wengkon, beras wutah and akhodiyat. |
There is a groove in the centre of the blade which suggests that it is for a talismanic inlay. Just below the groove, there is pamor akhodiyat visible. |
The 9 inches blade is slightly curved. Total length is 12 inches. Pamor Satriya Pinayungan is visible near the tip of the blade. It is sometimes said to be a loose pamor material. Nevertheless the pusaka-value is high. (It's direct translation is 'Warrior sheltering under palm-leaf'). |
The buntut (bottom tip) is made from dark ebony or kenaung wood. |
